My name is Nicole Gough. I live in Bonavista, NL and teach at Catalina Elementary School in Catalina, NL. I am curently working toward my Masters in Education - Information Technology with MUN and CBU.
I am married with a 10 1/2 month old and a 9 year old step son. Life is certainly busy but it is definitely worth it!
I think derry means that you dont stop trying, caring, and everything just because you loose someone you love, or you care about. You have to keep gogin, because johnny wants ponyboy to keep golden, so stay stronger. And keep trying.
I think that Darry means that you shouldn't stop striving, you shouldn't stop living your life to the fullest and you shouldn't stop being caring. You should always keep moving on; never stop because that’s the way that your loved one would want it. They wouldn't want you to stop living your life the way you want to if they really care about you.
When Darry says that, I think he means, don't put your life on hold becasue you lost someone that means everything to you, even though it's killing you on the inside don't let go of everything you got in life, you'll always get hurt, and you'll always have to be strong and not let go, because if you let go, your lietting everyone around you down, and your just going to end up throwing your hole life away. When Ponyboys lost Johnny and Dally that was Ponyboys hole life gone, and Ponyboy jsut saw life as a joke, and that he can't life without Johnny or Dally in it, nad he jsut looked at it as, Johnnys gone, and he needed him, and Johnny wasn't there, so Ponyboy jsut thought he was gunna throw away his life.
Darry means when he says you don't just stop living just because you lose someone is that Pony shouldn’t give up on his life just because Dally and Johnny are gone. Pony is a very smart kid and now his grades are slipping because he just doesn’t care ant more. Also he isn’t acting like himself and he doesn’t want to do anything.
When Darry says that I think he means that just because someone dies that doesnt mean that you should give up your life and not to care about anything anymore.
I think Darry means this by, when someone dies you just don't give up doing things in life. Just don't give up when someone dies. Because Johnny wants Ponyboy to stay goldne and don't give up on life.
I think that when Darry says, “you don’t just stop living because you lose someone”, he means that just because you lose someone you shouldn’t give up on everything and stop living, you should go on with life and do the things that he never go to do, and be happy that he is somewhere were he doesn’t have to suffer.

I think he also meant that even with Johnny gone, Ponyboy should stay strong and still remember Johnny. Ponyboy should live his life normally and keep on caring and being kind and nice to people, because that is what Johnny would want for Ponyboy.

Doing that leads to wanting out, suicide or threats to kill. You don't care about what happens anymore and you don't care if you die or not. Something like Dally when he wanted to be shot by the fuzz because he couldn't deal with living without Johnny his best friend.

It might seem like there is no use of tring anymore and nothing is important but you just got to keep on going like Pony boy did when Johnny died. But before Johnny died he told Pony to stay golden.
